Hodsock Priory Wedding Photography - Emma & Sam’s Wedding

Hodsock Priory

Emma and Sam’s wedding took place at Hodsock Priory on the Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire border. I love the surroundings at Hodsock, five acres of beautiful formal gardens leading onto rolling countryside as far as the eye can see. These gardens attract visitors all year round but they are particularly impressive in early spring when the whole place is a carpet of snowdrops. Well worth a visit.

Bridal Preparations

It was a very warm sunny day for Emma and Sam The first thing you spot as you approach Hodsocks historic country house is the grade 1 listed Tudor gatehouse - the last remaining one in Nottinghamshire. I joined Emma’s bridal preparations in the designated dressing room along with her 5 bridesmaids. After hair and makeup it was then up to the bridal suite for pictures of the final reveal to her bridesmaids and father. Emma chose a beautiful neutral colour scheme.

Wedding Ceremony Rooms

Hodsock offers a choice of rooms in which to wed - the popular oak panelled historic hall or the more contemporary Buchanan Hall offering a luxurious chandelier lit neutral backdrop. Smaller intimate ceremonies can be held in the traditional library or light and airy Ante room. Of course there’s always outdoors - under the Georgian gazebo in the central garden, the rose garden, the bluebell wood, or even under the historic gatehouse.

The Wedding Day

After Emma and Sam’s ceremony we made our way to the light and airy bar area, opening up on the Italian terrace. Onto the wedding breakfast and speeches with amazing ‘ naked ‘ cake. The sun starting to set provided us with the perfect lighting to grab a few pictures of the happy couple in the fabulous gardens. It was then time to party!!!

Preparations for the wedding

I began the day with Chris and his groomsman at the Bull and Swan, which is a beautiful little hotel in the middle of Stamford before heading over to St John the Evangelist Church in nearby Ryhall for the wedding service and then onto the reception which was held at the beautiful Burghley house estate.

Relaxed Documentary Photography At Burghley House

I have been to Burghley House a few times in the past and it was good to be back at this amazing wedding venue again. You can see why Burghley is such a sought after wedding venue and my job as a wedding photographer doesn't get much better than this.

Champagne and canapés were waiting for the wedding guests as they arrived in the Rose Garden along with various lawn games. The Great Hall was set up beautifully for their wedding breakfast with spectacular floral arrangements by Rebecca at Pollen Designs who is Burghley's recommended florist and you can see why.

Sophie and Chris are both from Stamford and wanted to embrace their surroundings and make the most of the stunning scenery that is on their doorstep. The weather was great,  and just a beautiful place to have your wedding. Burghley House is now one of my new favourite places to photograph a wedding

Thank you to the staff at Burghley House for their hospitality and for making their day so special.

Here are a few highlights from the day, enjoy!

If you are looking to get married at Burghley House please do get in touch and see if I am available for your date. I would love to return soon to this wonderful wedding venue.

Relaxed Documentary Wedding Photography In Oundle

Wedding Preparations

Veronica and Toby couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to get married in the pretty market town of Oundle,  which is located just 12 miles south west of Peterborough. I started the day with Toby and the boys as they got ready and then took a short walk through town to St Peter's Church where the ceremony was taking place.

Champagne and Canapés

After a lovely ceremony Veronica and Toby headed over to Cloisters for their drinks reception where they were joined by their wedding guests and enjoyed beautiful canapés and champagne in the courtyard.  The wedding reception was only a short walk away and was held at Oundle School. The marquee on the lawn was beautifully decorated with colourful lanterns and flags as Veronica wanted to give a little nod to her South American roots and culture.

Family and friends travelled from all over the UK and South America to celebrate with Veronica and Toby.  A very big thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to make the day run so smoothly.

Here are a few of my favourites from the day, enjoy!
