Risley Hall Wedding Photography

It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day photographing Rebecca and John’s wedding reception at Risley Hall this summer after their marriage in Ireland a few days earlier. It was a lovely intimate day with family and close friends and it was fantastic to spend it with them as their Risley Hall wedding photographer. Family and friends had travelled from Ireland and as far afield as New Zealand to celebrate with the happy couple.

Preparations

I joined the girls at Rebecca’s parents’ house to photograph their bridal preparations which were very relaxed. I was made to feel very at ease and was able to capture some great moments. Family and friends continually stopped by at the house to see the bride in her stunning wedding dress and to wish her well.

Celebrations

The wedding reception was held at nearby Risley Hall which is situated in between Nottingham and Derby. Rebecca and John actually got married a few days beforehand in Ireland so just chose to have a couple of readings at Risley Hall in front of their family and friends before a traditional sit-down meal, complete with quirky doughnut-style wedding cake. Dancing soon followed, and a fabulous time was had by all.

Preparations For The Wedding

I began my day by making my way over to Melissa’s parents house in West Bridgford where bridal preparations were in full swing. It was clear that the house was a hive of happiness and excitement that morning which became very infectious.

The bride and bridesmaids were in the capable hands of Debora Lola who is a very talented hairstylist and Adwoa Busia who was in charge of make up. Flowers were provided by Elizabeth McKenna who formally starred in BBC’s Apprentice . I had a sneaking suspicion that my wife would have liked to have been there to meet her, this being one of her favourite TV programmes.

Wedding Ceremony In West Bridgford

It was soon time to make my way over to St Giles Church in West Bridgford where the ceremony was to take place. It was certainly a highly emotionally charged affair. Matt was clearly overcome with the anticipation of his bride’s arrival which I was glad to have captured perfectly. The picture certainly highlighted his obvious love for Melissa who looked absolutely beautiful as she walked down the aisle.

Melissa and Matt met back in 2013 but it was only when Melissa moved away to Exeter that they decided to become an item. The 4 hour train journey obviously proved no obstacle to their relationship and the love they had for each other was clear for all to see on their wedding day.

After leaving the church and finding a parking ticket on my windscreen (the least said about that, the better!), I travelled the short distance to Colwick Hall which is a fantastic palladian style Georgian country house and was once the ansetral home of Lord Byron.

Wedding Photography At Colwick Hall

I am very familiar with this beautiful wedding venue. The staff take care of every detail, and it is always a privilege to be asked to be a Colwick Hall wedding photographer.

The wedding meal and speeches were full of laughs and magical memories and again very emotional. This was interspersed with me taking a variety of photographs in the grounds of Colwick Hall with a very relaxed and happy wedding party.

The evening reception was thoroughly enjoyed by all and both the wedding party and guests really immersed themselves into the spirit of the day with lots of dancing. The atmosphere was full of fun and everyone was on their feet to celebrate with the happy couple.

It was a fantastic wedding to be part of and I am very lucky to be able to be a wedding photographer at Colwick Hall

I wish Melissa and Matt all the very best for their future lives together.

Here are a few of my favourites from the day, enjoy!

Hogarths Hotel Wedding Photographer | Vikki & Daniel

Hogarths Hotel Wedding Photography

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph Vikki and Daniel’s wedding back in August and I can’t thank them enough for choosing me to be their Hogarths Hotel wedding photographer. This was my first time photographing a wedding at this fabulous wedding venue which is set in 27 acres of woodland and beautiful countryside.

Morning Preparations

I started my morning photographing the girls’ preparations as they leisurely got ready in one of the rooms before moving over into the bridal suite. Stress levels were kept to a minimum and Vikki’s bridesmaids did a super job of making her feel relaxed.

Wedding Ceremony and Reception

The wedding ceremony was held downstairs in the music room which has beautiful rich interiors and a contemporary style. After the short ceremony, drinks and canapés were served on the lawns and this is where all of the formal family photographs took place.

The wedding breakfast was held in the garden suite which is a magical marquee and has starlit ceilings with lovely views of the lawns and gardens. After the incredibly funny speeches it was time to party! And the dance floor was packed most of the night.

Vikki and Daniel’s wedding was fantastic from start to finish and I wish them both the very best of luck for the future.

Thank you to all the staff at Hogarths Hotel who worked so hard to make Vikki and Daniel’s vision become a beautiful reality.
